چکیده
In recent years, lung cancer has been the most commonly diagnosed cancer globally; 1.6 million people died of lung cancer in 2012 globally, making lung cancer the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Lung cancer can be mainly histologically classified into two types: non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), accounting for approximately 85% and 15% of cases, respectively. NSCLC can be further classified as squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and largecell lung carcinoma, among which lung adenocarcinoma is the most common primary malignant tumor. Unfortunately, most NSCLC cases are diagnosed at a late stage when the survival rate is low; the 5-year survival rate is approximately 16%. Researchers have shown that lung cancer is a heterogeneous disease and that genome alteration plays a significant role in disease occurrence. In recent years, there have been large technological advances in genomic testing. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) is

Clinicopathological Features of Patients with Non-small-cell Lung Cancer in West of Iran
Background: Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death worldwide with an annual mortality rate of more than 1.3 million worldwide. We aimed to analyze the clinicopathological features of patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in west of Iran. Methods: 64 patients with NSCLC who referred to our clinic were analyzed. Sex, age, histopathology, location of the tumor, treatment,...
متن کاملA review of the role of dopamine receptors and novel therapeutic strategies in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
Lung cancer is a very aggressive and most deadly cancer in both men and women. Lung cancer is divided into two types of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). NSCLC is divided into 3 subgroups: adenocarcinoma (AC), squamous cell carcinoma (SqCC) and large cell carcinoma (LCC). Dopamine is involved in controlling motions, cognition, emotions, memory and reward mech...
متن کاملStrategies and Clinical Applications of Next Generation Sequencing
Abstract DNA sequencing is one of the great valuable techniques in molecular biology, which can be used to detect the sequence of nucleotides in a DNA fragment. The high-throughput sequencing known as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) revolutionized genomic research and molecular biology; therefore, the whole human genome can be sequenced with a low cost in several days. NGS technology is simi...
متن کاملThe Effect of Time-dependent Prognostic Factors on Survival of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer using Bayesian Extended Cox Model
Abstract Background: Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers around the world. The aim of this study was to use Extended Cox Model (ECM) with Bayesian approach to survey the behavior of potential time-varying prognostic factors of Non-small cell lung cancer. Materials and Methods: Survival status of all 190 patients diagnosed with Non-Small Cell lung cancer referring to hospitals in ...

Introduction & Objective: The roles of tumor markers in the prognosis and diagnosis of lung cancer is under investigation. The aim of this study was to examine correlation between serum levels of Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) and Cyfra 21-1 with telomerase activity on biopsy samples in patients with lung cancer and controls. Materials & Methods: We studied 50 malignant lung cancer patients ...
